Spring 2021 Intern

Who Are We?
We are a team of proud Cal Poly students who believe that the next generation of courageous and curious farmers will benefit from purpose-built technology. Our user-centric platform brings together information from all corners of the farm allowing our customers to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and make decisions with confidence. We’re currently working towards launching our first beta program with several major farming organizations. Start Date: We are hiring on a rolling basis, please reach out for more information!
End Date: 3 months from start date. Continuing work may be discussed at this time
Time commitment: 20 hours / week
Location: In-person (San Luis Obispo, CA, with proof of vaccination) or remote

What We’re Looking For
At TractorCloud, we are looking for dedicated, passionate, creative thinkers with strong problem solving and interpersonal skills. As we grow our company we want to bring on innovative interns who are excited about bringing advanced technology to farming operations. By joining our team, you will be contributing to a high-impact project and will gain invaluable practical experience while working on an exciting startup.

The Role
As a full-stack web developer you will be building and actively deploying core features for our main vehicle dashboard. You will work cross-functionally with our design partner and our UX designer to develop a web application that is easy to use and exciting to interact with.

Your main responsibilities will be to:
Create intuitive, high-impact user experiences
Develop and test front-end solutions for streamlined user workflows
Consolidate streams of data into simple, beautiful visualizations
Participate in meetings with our main design partner to discuss workflows and usability

The desired qualifications are:
Experience building user-facing applications using web technologies
Understanding of React ok or similar modern front-end web framework
Ability to work effectively with a cross-functional team
Familiarity with GitHub or other team development tools
Enthusiastic about quality, design, and user experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills

End Goal
By the end of this internship you will have:
Experimented with several different versions of a target workflow through rapid iteration with our team and design partner
Tested and demoed the final version of the target workflow
Created clear, descriptive documentation for both your code and design decisions
Following the completion of this internship, we will ship the new workflow to our beta testers and be able to collect metrics on how your feature affects the farm.
